Piper-Heidsieck Vintage 2018 is the maison's declared vintage release from the 2018 harvest, a year characterised by a long, warm summer and abundant ripe fruit across Champagne. The blend is typically built around Chardonnay (around 51%) and Pinot Noir (around 49%), drawn from a tight selection of premier and grand cru villages.
The cuvée was vinified in steel under chef de cave Émilien Boutillat, who took over the maison's technical direction in the late 2010s. Long ageing on the lees (around five years) before disgorgement and a dosage in the low brut range frame a vintage style that aims to keep tension despite the warmth of the year. The release sits between the NV Brut and the prestige Rare Champagne in the line.

This is young for a Vintage Champagne release. That means a citrus aroma and bright fruit flavors are prominent. It balances with the toasty, nutty character in a wine that could age further. Drink from 2026.

Quince and linden, tarte tatin and gunpowder. Firm acidity on the palate with fine mousse, medium body and a chewy finish with tension. It will develop more complexity with time, but ready to drink.
