Brut Réserve is the volume cuvée of the family-led Reims house. The assemblage is roughly 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Meunier — a notably high Chardonnay share for an entry-level NV, and the wine's most defining characteristic. The fruit is drawn from over thirty villages across the Marne, with the Chardonnay portion sourced significantly from Taittinger's own extensive Côte des Blancs holdings.
The wine spends three to four years on the lees, well above the AOC minimum. Dosage is in the lower brut range. The style is light, citrus-driven and floral — a deliberately Côte des Blancs-leaning house signature that culminates in the prestige Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs.

I have often wondered how Taittinger could make such a magnificent super premium Champagne, Comtes de Champagne, while simultaneously producing an anemic La Française, their non-vintage bottling. Something seems to have changed! Comtes de Champagne remains spectacular, still standing with any Champagne in that category, while La Française has taken on depth and complexity that balances its backbone. If you’ve liked it in the past, you will find it even more enjoyable. If you haven’t tried La Française recently, I suggest you do so. 93 Michael Apstein

(2022) The Brut Réserve is one of my personal \'go to\' Champagnes among the major houses, and though the RRP is £47.99, there are always deals in the £30s. 40% Chardonnay and long ageing in the Taittinger cellars gives lovely biscuit and brioche notes over nutty apple and lemony scents. The fine mousse gives creaminess of texture and flavour, the dosage seems relatively high given the current obsession with ultra-dry styles, but the balance is impeccable, the core of sweet, ripe fruit, developed autolytic characters and sparkling acidity all adding up to a totally satisfying picture.

Fresh croissants, green apples, grapefruit and light walnuts on the nose of this crisp, balanced Champagne. Medium-bodied, seamless and sleek. 40% chardonnay, 35% pinot noir and 25% pinot meunier. Base wine from 2021 (70%) with 30% reserve wines. 8 g/L dosage. Drink now.

The NV ‘Brut La Francaise’ combines Chardonnay (40%), with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and comes from 35 different vineyards and vintages. It shows good finesse and a soft mousse. Salted green melon flavors mingle well with wet rock, lemon rind and copious minerals on the palate. Drink 2025-2031-

Taittinger has 288 hectares of vineyards across Champagne, giving it a wealth of grapes to work with yearly. The multi-vintage blend is usually a 40/45/15 mix of chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier. The high percentage of chardonnay is the key to its finesse and legendary elegant house style, which sets Taittinger apart from most of the competition at this level. The nose opens with a whiff of smoke and toast over a rush of lemon and white flowers. The current edition pitches a slightly more complex palate, adding to its charm. The bead of bubbles is exquisite, and the creamy, chalky, leesy notes go on and on. This is an impressive brut Champagne you can buy with confidence. (Anthony Gismondi).

blumig-fruchtige Aromatik; cremiger Auftakt, luftige Entwicklung, mittlere Länge auf Noten von Zitrusfrüchten; erfrischender Apero, für alle Gelegenheiten.

Pale lemon yellow. Apples, brioche, fruit driven, nuanced, chalky, nuanced, deatiled nose. Fresh acidity, apples, rounded, elegant, nuanced and fruit driven, lovely balance, good length.

Bright straw colour with a youthful mousse. Pure nose, youthful with citrus, green apple, some floral notes, discreet and pure with a light to medium structure. Rounded and creamy texture, classic dosage, ripe citrus notes, fresh almond and a floral hints followed by a crisp finish with a medium towards long finish. Pure and discreet style.

(60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay). Mittleres Goldgelb. 88 vvPunkte
