50% Pinot Noir · 33% Chardonnay · 17% Pinot Meunier

Black Label is the volume cuvée and historic signature of Lanson. The assemblage is roughly half Pinot Noir, about a third Chardonnay and the balance Meunier, drawn from some fifty crus across the Marne.

Like the rest of the Lanson range, the wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation — a choice the maison has held since the early twentieth century, when most of its peers moved the other way. The result is a noticeably brighter, more citrus-edged NV than the malo-soft norm; the wine spends around three years on the lees and is dosed in the brut range. The label is sold under royal warrant to several European courts.
