Position in the range
Blanc Singulier is Ruinart's response to climate-driven vintage variation. Launched with Édition 18 in 2023 (base 2018 harvest), the cuvée is positioned not as a vintage Champagne in the traditional sense, but as a declaration of warmer years that depart from historical Reims/Côte des Blancs norms. Edition numbering follows the base harvest year, the same convention Krug uses for Grande Cuvée.
Style
100% Chardonnay, drawn entirely from Côte des Blancs grand and premier cru villages (Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Vertus). The cellar avoids malolactic fermentation in the cuvée to preserve acidity that warm vintages otherwise compress. Around four years on the lees before disgorgement, with a low dosage (extra-brut) to keep the wine sharp. The Édition 18 was released in 2023 at a higher price point than the regular Blanc de Blancs, positioning the cuvée between R de Ruinart and Dom Ruinart.
