Brut Réserve is the volume cuvée of the family-owned Épernay house, often called Pol Roger's "calling card". The assemblage is one-third Chardonnay, one-third Pinot Noir and one-third Meunier, drawn from around thirty villages — heavily weighted to the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, plus the Vallée de la Marne for Meunier.
The cellar ferments at low temperature in steel and ages the wine on lees for around four years, twice the AOC minimum. Dosage is held in the lower brut range, around 8 g/L. The style is precise and tight rather than rich, with a fine bead that has long been associated with the family's deep, cold cellars in Épernay.
